Over Starprints

Cleo Campert: 'Om meer mensen op een betaalbare manier van mijn RoXY archief te kunnen laten genieten ben ik de online winkel Starprints begonnen. 
Ik bied op Starprints foto's voor betaalbare prijzen aan, er zit geen handelaar tussen, ik doe zelf de bestellingen en het versturen, dit om de kwaliteit te waarborgen. 
Regelmatig zet ik nieuwe foto's op de site, waaronder foto's die nog nooit vertoond zijn.
De naam Starprints heb ik gekozen om het gevoel dat Club RoXY uitdroeg; Iedereen is een ster.'

Campert over de RoXY tijd:
‘In die eerste jaren fotografeerde ik gewoon alles wat los en vast zat. Als een soort tornado maakte ik rondjes. Eerst was er een act, vervolgens rende ik naar boven, dan weer op de dansvloer verder. Soms even een break, zelf wat drinken en dansen. En dan na een tijdje weer foto’s maken. Als je fotografeert wórd je bijna je camera. Je sluit je af voor de rest van de wereld, je komt in een flow.’ Het gevoel van vrijheid dat de eerste housejaren kenmerkt, is terug te zien op de foto’s. Zowel bij artiesten als publiek. ‘Bovendien was het concept fotografie nog anders. Mensen waren helemaal niet wantrouwend in die eerste jaren. Ik kon gewoon m’n gang gaan. Fotograaf was nog een eerzaam beroep. Ik liep rond met twee camera’s, een flitser en een accu. Als een soort Dennis Hopper in de film Apocalypse Now. Er was een fotograaf in de club en dat hoorde er nou eenmaal bij. Ik probeerde het op mijn beurt met veel respect te benaderen en dacht altijd: zou ik het zelf leuk vinden zo op de foto te komen?'

Als beeldend kunstenaar maakt Campert nieuw werk zoals Hold on I am rising en Camera Hallucida. Op dit moment werkt ze aan nieuw en persoonlijk werk met de titel Lucia, dat gaat over haar moeder. Ze exposeert solo of samen met het kunstenaarscollectief MONDAG dat in 2022 is opgericht.

In de toekomst zullen prints van ander werk van Campert en tevens van andere kunstenaars te koop zijn via Starprints.

Cleo Campert: 'To allow more people to enjoy my RoXY archive in an affordable way, I started the online store Starprints.
I offer photos on Starprints for affordable prices, there is no trader in between, I do the ordering and shipping myself, this to guarantee the quality.
I regularly add new photos, including photos that have never been shown before.
I chose the name Starprints because of the feeling that Club RoXY conveyed; Everyone is a star.'

Campert about the RoXY period:
‘In those first years I just photographed everything that was around me. I went around in circles like a tornado. First there was an act, then I ran upstairs, then back on the dance floor. Sometimes a break, a drink and a dance myself. And then after a while taking pictures again. When you take pictures you almost become your camera. You close yourself off from the rest of the world, you get into a flow.’ The feeling of freedom that characterizes the first house years can be seen in the pictures. Both with artists and audience. ‘Moreover, the concept of photography was still different. People were not at all suspicious in those first years. I could just do my thing. Photography was still an honorable profession. I walked around with two cameras, a flash and a battery. Like Dennis Hopper in the film Apocalypse Now. There was a photographer in the club and that was just part of it. I tried to approach it with a lot of respect and always thought: would I like to be photographed like that myself?'

As a visual artist, Campert creates new work such as Hold on I am rising and Camera Hallucida. She is currently working on new and personal work entitled Lucia, which is about her mother. She exhibits solo or together with the artist collective MONDAG, which was founded in 2022.
